To celebrate the sweet season, we decided to share with you a typical Quebec recipe that is all the rage in our country: the maple syrup pie!
INGREDIENTS
For the dough:
- 500 ml (2 cups) all-purpose flour
- 2.5 ml (1/2 tsp.) Maison Orphée Fine Grey Sea Salt
- 60 ml (1/4 cup) cold water
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) Maison Orphée Perfect Oil TM
For the maple syrup filling:
- 500 ml (2 cups) of maple syrup
- 125 ml (1/2 cup) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of Belsoy Soy Creamy Preparation or 15% cooking cream
Notes
You may end up with some leftover dough. You can use it to make some decorations for your masterpiece!
PREPARATION
1. Mix flour and salt in a large bowl. Set aside.
2. In a second bowl, mix the water and the oil.
3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Stir with a fork to moisten, no more.
4. a) For the two 6-inch pies: divide the dough in half, roll the first layer between two sheets of waxed or parchment paper. Between two sheets of waxed or parchment paper. Place the dough in the pie pan. Do the same with the remaining dough.
b) For the 12-inch pie: roll out the pie between two sheets of waxed paper or parchment. Place the dough in the pie pan.
5. Preheat oven to 350 F.
6. In a bowl, mix the three filling ingredients until smooth.
7. a) For the two 6-inch pies: equally pour the filling in both dishes. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the filling is set. If the filling is still too runny, continue baking for an additional 5 minutes.
b) For 12-inch pie: Pour into pastry shell. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until filling is set. If filling is still too runny, continue baking for an additional 10 minutes.
8. Remove from oven and let cool before serving. Enjoy!
