Seed oils
Seed oils have been a specialty of Maison Orphée since 1989, the year when the first press for seeds was acquired. At that time, founder Bernard Stier aimed to provide a more local alternative to olive oil, which was being imported from Europe.
At our Québec factory, we exclusively press organic, non-GMO seeds: high-oleic sunflower, canola, flaxseed (all three of Canadian origin), and sesame. To provide quality oils, we cold-press them. This is what allows us to preserve their wonderful flavours as well as their nutritional properties.
Drawing a comparison between seed oils and wines reveals a fascinating similarity: each bottle carries a distinct personality, while every harvest introduces a medley of flavour intricacies that unfold harmoniously through the seasons.
