Preparation time : 15 minutes
Serving Size : For about 4 or 5 slices of French toast
French toast, also known as "pain doré" in Quebec, is a great brunch classic, and not for nothing, as it's a delicious way to pass up stale breads and buns. Today, we invite you to try our revisited 100% vegan version!
In fact, we strongly suggest that you add a drizzle of hazelnut oil as a finishing touch. This simple little touch is reminiscent of the taste of chocolate hazelnut spread and will take your brunch to another level!
INGREDIENTS:
- Leftover vegan brioche with olive oil
- ¾ cup (185 ml) plant-based mylk of your choice
- ¼ cup (60 ml) maple syrup
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) ground chia or flax seeds (to substitute the eggs)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp. organic cooking sunflower oil
PREPARATION:
In a bowl, mix together the plant milk, maple syrup, ground chia or flax seeds and vanilla extract. Let stand for a few minutes until mixture is slightly less liquid.
Dip the brioche slices in the bowl one by one, let them absorb for a few seconds, drain and pan fry in a hot non-stick pan with the sunflower oil.
This recipe's delicious with a pinch of fleur de sel and a drizzle of hazelnut oil. You can of course serve it with fruits or any other way you prefer. Enjoy!
