Right now, crispy chili oils are making the entire web salivate. No need to run to the Asian grocery store: your pantry probably already has what you need to make a homemade version!The secret to an impressive spicy oil is to choose a heat-resistant oil that will extract and capture the capsaicin (the spice) in the chillies.
The only catch? You'll quickly become addicted and want to put it absolutely everywhere!
INGREDIENTS
- 2 tsp minced dried garlic
- 2 tsp dried minced onion
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp chili flakes, or more to taste
- 2 tsp ground Sichaun pepper, optional
- 2 tsp sesame seeds
- A large pinch of fleur de sel Maison Orphée
- 1 cup Maison Orphées organic unrefined sesame oil
PREPARATION
- In a bowl, add the dried minced garlic, the dried minced onions, the chili powder, the chli flakes, the sechuan pepper, the sesame seeds and the salt.
- In a pan over medium-high heat, add the sesame oil. Heat for 2-3 minutes or until the oil is hot.
- Pour the hot oil over the spice mix. Let stand 1 minute. Mix well. Let cool before serving. Store in the fridge for up to a month.
