Chocolate Cake with Olive Oil Ganache

Made with our Chocolate Cake Mix, this dessert combines simplicity and sophistication. Its soft, moist texture and rich cocoa flavour create the perfect base for a silky ganache delicately infused with warm spices. Each bite offers a subtle balance of sweetness and spice, delivering a gourmet experience that’s anything but ordinary.

 

INGREDIENTS

For the chocolate cake
For the olive oil ganache
  • 125 ml (1/2 cup) 35% cream
  • 1 star anise
  • A pinch of ground nutmeg
  • A pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 170 g dark chocolate (65 to 72%), chopped
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) Maison Orphée Extra Virgin Olive Oil Delicate
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) water


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare the chocolate cake mix according to package instructions. Pour the batter into your preferred cake pan and bake until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely before decorating.
  3. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, heat the cream with the spices. Remove from heat and let steep for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Bring the cream back to a boil, then strain it over the chopped chocolate. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  5. Add the olive oil and water, and mix until the ganache is silky and uniform. Let cool for about 30 minutes, or until it reaches a spreadable consistency.
  6. Frost the cake and enjoy!
