Croissant déjeuner Dijon érable

Maple Dijon breakfast croissant

Recipe in collaboration with Esther Samson

Preparation time: 30 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

Finding it hard to decide between enjoying a savoury and a sweet breakfast? You’re in luck. We have a recipe that brings together the best of both worlds with delectably sweet and savoury croissants featuring Maison Orphée's Dijon mustard.

And if, like us, you enjoy breakfast options at any time of day, you'll find that this is also a great recipe for an easy supper. What a time saver!

  • 4 croissants, coupés en deux sur le sens de l’épaisseur
  • 4 croissants, cut in half lengthwise
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 8 eggs
  • 4 slices of cheese
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) Maison Orphée Dijon Mustard
  • 30 ml (2 tablespoons) maple syrup
  • 2 cups (500 ml) arugula
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • Chopped chives (optional)

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.

  2. Spread bacon slices on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes.

  3. In a bowl, whisk the eggs. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. Add a drizzle of olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the eggs and cook for a few minutes.

  5. In a bowl, combine Dijon mustard and maple syrup.

  6. Spread croissants on a baking sheet. Brush the inside of the croissants with the Dijon mustard-maple syrup mixture.

  7. Add the eggs and cheese slices on the croissants' bottom half. Bake for 4-5 minutes.

  8. Top with bacon slices, tomatoes, chives and arugula. Close croissants and serve.

This blend of flavours works just as well with store-bought frozen waffles or homemade crepes! Any occasion is a good one to enjoy our Dijon mustard.
