A word from Les Mauvaises Herbes
We believe that chocolate-hazelnut spread shouldn't be reserved only for a slice of bread! Hazelnut Oil and cocoa butter combine to create this nourishing, repairing, and protective lip balm—a simple, useful, and fun recipe.
How does it work?
Hazelnut oil is a penetrating, nourishing and protective oil, making it an ideal ingredient for lip and skin care. Combined with nourishing and repairing cocoa butter and protective, emollient beeswax, the result is a lip balm with the scent of choco-nut spread that nourishes, repairs and protects against dehydration, especially in less clement weather.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 tsp (10 ml or 9 g) Maison Orphée Hazelnut Oil
- 1 tsp (5 ml or 3.5 g) Les Mauvaises Herbes chopped beeswax
- 1 tbsp (15 ml or 7.5 g) Les Mauvaises Herbes cocoa butter
MATERIAL
- Kitchen scales or measuring spoons
- Mason jar or other heat-resistant container
- A small pot
- A small silicone spatula
- 30 ml jar or 3 x 10 ml lip balm tubes
PREPARATION
- Put all the ingredients in the mason jar. Place the jar in the pot. Pour water into the pot until it reaches a depth of about 1 inch*. Be careful! Do not add water to the jar that contains the ingredients.
-
Heat over very low heat until the beeswax and cocoa butter have melted. Stir well with a silicone spatula and pour into the 30 ml jar or lip balm tubes.
- Allow to cool and set completely before closing the jar or tubes. A small hole may form on the surface of the balm as it cools. That’s normal!
NOTES
*A cloth can be placed under the Mason jar to stabilize it and reduce the intensity of direct heat on the ingredients.
