There's no better way to finish the month of October than with an apple-pear galette? Simple and easy to make, this comforting dessert is sure to please every sweet tooth!
Serve with ice cream and caramel sauce for the ultimate sweet indulgence!
INGREDIENTS:
For the crust
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 pinch of fine grey sea salt
- 1/3 cup organic virgin canola oil
- 1/3 cup water
For the filling
- 4 apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
- 4 pears, peeled, seeded and sliced into thin strips
- The juice of one lemon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
PREPARATION:
For the crust
- In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt and canola oil.
- Add water gradually to the mixture, kneading as you go to form a ball.
- Cover the ball with a clean cloth and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle a work surface and rolling pin with flour and roll out the dough. Set aside.
For the filling
- Preheat oven to 350 F.
- In a large bowl, combine apples, pears, lemon juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside.
- Place the dough in a 9-inch pie pan and arrange the fruits in the center of the dough, leaving a 2-inch border all around. Gently fold the edges of the dough to cover the fruits.
- Bake for about 45 minutes.
- Allow to cool before serving.
- Enjoy with a scoop of ice cream and drizzle with caramel sauce!
